A very trendy restaurant within walking distance of Descanso resort and within walking distance of the city. This restaurant by Michael Beckman and Joseph Mourani is located in a kind of Spanish house with a courtyard.

We walk across the courtyard, where most of the tables are occupied, to the door to report ourselves. Inside, we don’t know what we’re seeing. A great interior. A large table where groups can eat, above the table a row of lamps. Very sleekly decorated. In addition, benches where you can eat as a couple or group. What an incredibly beautiful interior.

Outside, the interior is a bit more classic, which fits in with the Spanish style of the courtyard.

Menu

Thomas starts with a Brussels sprouts salad with blue cheese. The Brussels sprouts are shaved and then made with an Asian dressing. The salad contains roasted almonds, dates, shaved fennel and cheese. This is a very tasty combination.

Cees takes oyster mushrooms that are fried, served with honey and a green sauce. The oyster mushrooms are crispy. It’s a kind of tempura, but slightly different. The crust is not coarse and the color is not white. The outside is crisp and brown. The first bites are very tasty, but then boredom sets in. It’s a bit too much of the same. The amount of oyster mushrooms is large and the sauce that is served with it is a little too little. Too bad because it started so well. If there was a little more sauce or something like garlic, the taste would be more surprising.

Other appetizers they have are: fried rice with duck, beets with lemon and lamb kefta.

As a main course, Cees has scallops in a 5 ingredient sauce. The scallops are fried until golden brown. The yellow sauce has Asian influences so I taste coconut milk, but this is not an ingredient for this sauce. The sauce is made from lime grass, kaffir lime, saffron and turmeric, and is also made with white wine. What a delight. This is one of the best dishes I’ve eaten in America so far.

Thomas takes cauliflower grilled on charcoal. A nice vegetarian dish. Some baby kale is included, served with cashew nuts and quinoa. The presentation is very good and the flavors are very special. The grill flavor is well present. Very good.

We decide not to have dessert because we are full. We have a coffee and a limoncello. If we get back to Palm Springs, we will definitely be back. This restaurant also has a branch in LA, nice to eat there as well. Highly recommended to eat here if you are in Palm Springs.
