We once went to eat at Alain Ducasse’s in the Dorchester hotel in London. This holiday we had brunch at Dorchester The Beverly Hills and so it is inevitable that we will eat at Alain’s if the opportunity arises. This is how we complete the circle.
Rivea is located in Delano hotel on floor 64, but we think this is floor 44, because the elevator skips numbers 40 to 59.
Menu
The menu is varied, from large meat dishes to pizza. There’s something for everyone. As a starter, Thomas has a beetroot salad with quinoa. The salad is made with a lime dressing. We recommend this salad.
Cees takes beef carpaccio with spices. The meat is particularly tender and is from wagyu beef. On top of the meat is lettuce, chili pepper and pine nuts. The pepper makes it a spicy dish.
We have a glass of wine with Cees, a Pinot Noir from Sonoma and Thomas a Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines aren’t cheap, you’re in Vegas. We pay $34 per glass.
As a main course we both have a pizza. Cees a truffle, mushroom pizza and Thomas one with dried ham.
The pizza tastes very good. Fresh truffle is on the truffle pizza and the pizza smells very much of truffle. Delicious.
The pizza with ham is very richly filled. Lots of ham is on top of the pizza. We enjoy.
Interior
You eat here at a high level, both literally and figuratively. The view of the Strip from the table, as well as from the balcony, is immense. What a sight.
Smaller oval-shaped glass balls hang from the ceiling that serve as a kind of curtain. This gives a private feeling and has some of the atmosphere of Alain Ducasse’s restaurant in London.
There are tables with benches as well as chairs. We sit on a semi-circular bench.
This is not star level as you experience at Ducasse in London, but good and lots of food. According to our waiter, the portions have been increased because when the restaurant started the portions were more European size and customers started complaining. We can’t finish our pizza and don’t take a doggy bag with us because we’re on holiday.
