After several fantastic stays at Siam Kempinski, it was time to experience its sister hotel: Sindhorn Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. Perfectly located in the leafy embassy district and popular with luxury and gay travelers. Despite a six-hour delayed flight, we were perfectly looked after thanks to the hotel transfer we booked. We regularly stay in a Kempinski hotel, such as in Bali, St. Moritz, Engelberg and Kitzbühel.

Arrival – The luxury starts at the airport
As soon as we landed at Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, someone was waiting with our changed flight number neatly entered into the system. Within minutes, a BMW 7 Series that the hotel had arranged for us arrived.
In the car:
- chilled water
- refreshing wipes
- Wi-Fi on board
- comfortable chairs and a quiet, luxurious ambiance
A taste of what a five-star luxury hotel in Bangkok should be.

After about 30 minutes, we drove into the elegant Sindhorn estate. While our luggage was being taken, we were treated to a delicate lemongrass tea. During check-in, the best news arrived: a double upgrade to a Two-Bedroom Suite, thanks to our GHA Titanium membership through GHA DISCOVERY.

A great start to our stay.

Suite 1606 – A private apartment in the heart of Bangkok
The Two-Bedroom Suite feels like an elegant city apartment in the heart of Bangkok. As soon as you step inside, you’ll notice the spaciousness. A guest toilet is located in the hallway, leading to a stylishly furnished living area with a soft, inviting sofa, an elegant dining table, and a fully equipped kitchen. As if that weren’t enough, luxurious amenities await you upon arrival: a delicious cake, a bottle of white wine, a large box of chocolates, and fresh fruit.

On either side of the living room are two spacious bedrooms – the perfect setting for couples, two friends, or families who appreciate luxury. Each bedroom features an en-suite bathroom (one with both a bathtub and a shower), a large walk-in closet, a desk with an armchair, and modern, warm lighting that gives the space a serene atmosphere.

The perfectly balanced bedroom with a king-size bed, soft lighting, and stylish designer chair exudes tranquility and refinement – ideal for luxury travelers.

The entire space exudes luxury, tranquility, and comfort, with an impressive sense of space. Without a doubt, this suite is among the finest luxury suites in Bangkok – an absolute must for those seeking a refined and lavish hotel experience.

Restaurants & Bars – From Michelin Bib Gourmand to jazz from the roaring twenties
Flourish – Gastronomy with a Michelin touch
During our stay, we dined one evening at Flourish, the restaurant that has rightfully earned a place in Michelin’s Bib Gourmand selection. The dishes we tasted—including grilled chicken satay with lemongrass and fried chicken with green peppers in a spicy tamarind sauce—were all bursting with intense, authentic Thai flavors, yet with the refinement and elegant presentation you expect from Kempinski. It’s a restaurant where tradition and finesse seamlessly intertwine.

Firefly Bar – A must-visit
The Firefly Bar is one of the most atmospheric bars in Bangkok and is undoubtedly a hotspot for both gay travelers and luxury lovers. The ambiance is reminiscent of the elegance of the 1920s and 1930s: rich velvet tones, soft jazz sounds, live music and a series of intimate rooms and hidden lounge areas. There is an atmosphere here that makes you forget the time. The cocktail menu is extensive, creative and perfectly executed. Firefly is one of those places you simply cannot miss during a luxury city trip to Bangkok.

Spa & Gym – Wellness at the highest level
We really wanted to use the Sindhorn Wellness Spa, but it was fully booked. A clear tip for future guests: book well in advance, as the spa is particularly popular with wellness enthusiasts seeking relaxation and high-quality treatments.
Fortunately, the gym made up for a lot. The equipment is modern and advanced, there are dumbbells, and professional personal trainers are available to guide you. The space itself is spacious, bright, and feels more like a high-end boutique gym than a standard hotel gym. A definite plus for anyone who wants to maintain their workout routine even during a luxury city break.

Swimming Pool – A unique indoor-outdoor concept overlooking Lumphini Park
The swimming pool on the 9th floor is a real eye-catcher: it partially “floats” outside the building, so you’re literally swimming outdoors. The best spots are along the pool’s edge, where you can enjoy the warm afternoon sun and stunning views of Lumphini Park from around four o’clock. A few loungers are located in the hall, and the floors above overlook these loungers. We don’t think this is a great design.

The service at the pool is excellent. Upon arrival, you’ll be immediately offered water, followed by refreshing cold amenities, and the friendly pool staff will ensure you have everything you need. A wonderful, luxurious place to relax during your stay.
Breakfast – A good start to the day
Thanks to our Executive Club access, we could choose where we had breakfast every day, but Flourish was undoubtedly our favorite. The selection is perfectly tailored to both Western and Asian guests: from warm noodles, dim sum, and fragrant curries to freshly baked breads, yogurt, granola, and a generous selection of fresh fruit that changes daily. And then there’s the ultimate guilty pleasure: mango sticky rice for breakfast—unexpectedly addictively delicious.

From the second day on, we were immediately recognized by the staff and personally escorted to our table. It’s precisely these subtle, personal touches that define true luxury.

One of the things we didn’t like here was that the tables are placed right up against the cabinets where dishes are placed. You practically walk right past people’s tables while serving your plate.
Executive Lounge – one of the best
The executive lounge is a world of its own. This is one of the best lounges in hotels we’ve stayed in. The service is top-notch, the ambiance is very relaxed, and the atmosphere is what you’d expect, and even more. The food and drinks are excellent.

Overall – One of the most underrated luxury hotels in the world
Sindhorn Kempinski is undoubtedly among the very best luxury accommodations in Bangkok. The hotel has a warm atmosphere, is gay-friendly in a subtle and respectful way, offers an exceptional amount of space, and excels in refined service. This makes it the perfect choice for couples, gay couples, and friends who value comfort and luxury.

The lobby itself is a work of art: lofty, chic, and warm, yet with a modern, industrial touch that creates a unique atmosphere. The Executive Lounge is an added bonus, offering delicious snacks, excellent drinks, and a relaxed setting that complements the hotel’s refined ambiance.

It remains a mystery to us why this hotel isn’t much higher in the global luxury rankings — it absolutely deserves to be.
