In the village of Jochberg, close to Kitzbühel, this Spa hotel is located which is managed by Kempinski. A wonderfully informal 5-star hotel with 5-star service.
Arrival
The entrance is very spacious, the hall is sleek, we call this modern Austrian design, a large fireplace that goes on in winter and a spacious reception. The hall is very tastefully decorated. There are quite a few sofas by the fireplace. A number of shops have their entrance from the hall, here you can buy ski clothing in winter and sports clothing in summer.
We visited this hotel a number of times. Check-in is always very efficient. We usually receive a double room upgrade because of our Kempinski and GHA membership.
Room
This time we stayed in room 537, a Deluxe Suite with a view of the mountains and the pool. The room has a living room with pantry, a separate bedroom, two bathrooms and many cupboards for storing clothes. In addition, there is a fireplace between the living room and the bedroom. In winter it is wonderful to turn on the fireplace. The wood is regularly brought to the room.
In addition, there is a balcony over the entire width of the suite. The balcony overlooks the pool and restaurant. On the balcony two chairs and two sunbeds. The guest does not have to lack anything.
The Deluxe Suite can accommodate 2 people or a family of 4. The sofa in the living room can be converted into a sofa bed.
The room is reasonably traditionally furnished. Lots of red and yellow. The Deluxe Suite and the rooms are cozy. The Alpen Suite, Jochberg Suite and Penthouse Suite are more modernly furnished. Last year we stayed in the Alpen suite, which is quite sleek.
Restaurants
Two restaurants are located in the hotel. Steinberg is the restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and Sra Bua is the Asian restaurant. It is only open for dinner.
Steinberg serves a very good breakfast. The breakfast buffet is very richly equipped. Many types of fruit, many different types of yogurt and cottage cheese, a huge selection of musli, seeds and nuts and the amount of different sandwiches is unbelievable. The service during breakfast is good. One of the ladies in the service (Doris) understands her profession so well, she has an eye for everything and everyone. No question is too much for her.
Dinner at Steinberg is good. The space is nicely decorated, the menu is extensive and the dishes are good. Don’t expect star level, but good decent food. Austrian dishes such as Schnitzel are on the menu, but also delicious fish and meat dishes.
Sra Bua is our favorite restaurant in the hotel. Unfortunately not always open (seasonally) The dishes they serve are Asian. Nicely presented, deliciously seasoned and very tasty. The service here is top notch.
Spa and Swimming Pool
The spa and pool are very nice. The spa is large, there are 2 Finnish saunas, 1 lava sauna and 1 Hamam / Steam sauna. The two Finnish saunas both have their own temperature. The lava sauna is spacious and here are TV screens showing eruptions of volcanoes.
The steam sauna has 10 chairs, each with more than enough space.
There are several large relaxation areas with single sun beds and double cabins / sun beds. A guest can easily spend the whole day here.
In addition to the spa area, there is an indoor / outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers. Swimwear is mandatory in the pool.
In the summer there are many sun chairs outside around the pool. You can take a dog on the grass by the pool, it is of course not allowed in the pool. It’s nice that you can bring a dog if you want to relax for a day.
Fitness
The fitness room has everything you need, from dumbbells and machines to cardio equipment. The gym is not huge, but it is never crowded at times when I entered the gym. In all the years that we come here, I have 1 * experienced that we were 3 people in the fitness room, usually I was alone.
There is water and towels to pack.
Overall
A wonderful hotel where guests can relax. Highly recommended for both summer and winter. In summer it is wonderful to relax by the pool and in the mountains. The hotel is quietly situated. In winter this is an ideal winter sports hotel. The ski lift is located next to the hotel. The Kitzbühler ski area has been voted the best ski area in the world several times. You ski into the hotel, as it were. Afterwards, a nice drink at the bar and relax in the spa. This is an ideal winter sports destination.
Dogs are allowed in the hotel. They are welcome almost everywhere except in the restaurants.
