Fairmont Windsor Park is located at the foot of Windsor Park. The hotel is new, traditionally built.
Arrival
The arrival is undoubtedly spectacular. You drive along Bishopsgate Road, a residential area where the houses are behind high walls and very old trees and then you turn off through the first gates of the garden. There is a tennis court and outdoor gym on the right. Following the road you will come to barriers and then you drive to the hotel, over a bridge. The building is slowly becoming more visible.
The car is parked in front of the door (valet parking) and walking through the hall you reach the reception, which is slightly hidden to create an optimal view of the impressive hall. Check-in is quick. The receptionist explains a number of things about the hotel as he walks to the room. We have a room on the ground floor. Halfway to the room, the receptionist indicates that we have to go through a door and then find our room.
Room (#033)
We have a Deluxe Double Double room. The room is on the ground floor and has a view of the courtyard. Upon entering the room you will find a very large hall with a sliding door to the bedroom, a door to the bathroom and an open space to the living room/sitting area.
The room is stylishly furnished with a sofa, two chairs and a coffee table, no desk in this room, making it a less suitable room to do some work. In the room there is a cupboard with a coffee maker and a small refrigerator.
Because we have a dog with us, there is a basket in the room in which there are two bones. The dog is not yet in or has already found the bone and is having a great time.
The bathroom is spacious and has a bath in addition to a separate shower. The shower is a rain shower. What I miss in the bathroom is a socket for the hairdryer. The hairdryer is in a drawer in the walk-in closet and you cannot blow-dry your hair anywhere in the bathroom. Not enough thought has been given to this.
The room is nice and big. We like to spend some of the time in the room, it is inviting.
We miss a small welcome gift such as fruit or chocolate in the room. Usually you get this in a 5 star deluxe hotel.
Restaurant and Bar
There are two restaurants (1215 and Moreish). We did not eat at 1215, but we did drink something in their bar. The bar 1215 is very nice. The chairs are very comfortable. The bar has all the drinks you can think of. The interior is very nice, a large fireplace (which we don’t think it works), plenty of bucket seats, a large cupboard with all kinds of art objects. The service in the bar is very good. As soon as we enter we are given a bowl of water for the dog, who eagerly accepts it and quickly starts drinking. The staff is adapted to dogs, which is nice to see.
Bar food is very good. The menu also contains some surprising dishes.
The interior of Moreish is very beautiful. If you have a dog with you, you can eat here, but you will be in a separate room that is less nicely decorated. Still neat, but it lacks some of the atmosphere that you find in the general part. You can also eat on the terrace when the weather is nice. The food at Moreish is good, not special.
Gym
The gym is large. You see that people from the village also use this gym, although when I used the gym there was no one from outside the hotel. There is a room with equipment, a room for yoga and stretching exercises and even a room for spinning classes. I have never seen this in a hotel.
Pool and Spa
There are two swimming pools: an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. Both swimming pools are less suitable for children. Children must make a reservation, which is very nice because it will not be a play paradise. The indoor swimming pool has sun loungers in the water and lovely soft loungers at the edge of the pool for guests to lie on.
The outdoor pool is slightly smaller, the water temperature is wonderful. There are swing chairs around the outdoor pool. When the weather is nice it is a nice place to be.
The sauna and steam sauna are located next to the swimming pool, making it accessible, but this also means you have to keep your swimwear on. I personally find this a little less pleasant and less hygienic. Both the sauna and the steam sauna are pleasant.
Breakfast
Dogs are allowed in the breakfast room, but then you will be in the separate part of Moreish. The breakfast buffet is extensive, with quite a bit of fruit and many savories. As you are in England, you also have English Breakfast like beans in tomato sauce. The service in the breakfast room is top notch. Coffee is brought to the table just like fried eggs.
Overall
What a wonderful hotel near London, next to Windsor Park and close to Windsor Castle. The hotel is also near Heathrow. You notice that you are in a historic location here. History is visible everywhere. The service in the hotel is top notch, the hospitality is fantastic. When we came in and they saw that we had a dog, we immediately received toys for Tobias. This is service. When you enter the bar or restaurant, you are also asked what the dog’s name is, you see that people are attuned to dogs and that dogs are part of a family.
We had a wonderful time here and will most likely return. There are so many beautiful hotels in the area that it is always difficult to choose.
