On the west side of the island, towards Westpunt, is the beautiful Porto Marie beach. This beach is among one of the most popular beaches on the island. Two little pigs can also walk on the beach; when we were here, the pigs were at the entrance to the parking lot.
The beach is about a 35-minute drive from Willemstad. The beach has a very large parking area. Upon arrival at the beach, entrance fee must be paid, then you can pick a chair and start relaxing.
Beach and facilities
On the beach there is a restaurant where you can have a lunch. There is also a small store.
It is a wide beach. The sand is not tremendously white, but white enough. In several places in the water is coral where more than enough fish swim. It’s a hugely enjoyable snorkeling spot.
Big advantage is that there is a lot of sand and few rocks.
