Wat Phra Doi Suthep is about 15 kilometers and a 45-minute drive from Anantara Chiang Mai.

Doi Suthep is a Buddhist temple located in the hills surrounding Chiang Mai. It is one of the most important temples in Chiang Mai and the surrounding area.

Temple

A steep path leads from the royal gardens to the steps leading up to the temple. We see a lot of people walking up the mountain. We choose the car. When you arrive at the temple, you have to pay an entrance fee, which is THB 30 (EUR 0.80).

At the stairs is a snake / dragon that covers the railing of the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs are many stalls. Because it’s a temple, no pushy sales people. At the stalls you can buy flowers and other offerings, of course there are also tourist items for sale.

7 headed dragon

If you have climbed the stairs, with 307 steps, you can immediately see the temple and there you can immediately visit the chedi (pagoda). Shoes off, you’re stepping on hallowed ground.
